Philadelphia is the home of the cheese steak sandwich. A Philadelphian named Pat Olivieri is said to have invented the Philadelphia steak sandwich in 1930. Pat’s King of Steaks is considered by many to be the BEST place to savor a cheese steak in the city. It has certainly been around the longest. They are located on 9th Street and Passyunk Avenue which is their only location. Pat’s is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
