Where can I get good Mexican food in Austin, TX?

Tip for best answer: M$1.86
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Chuy’s is one of Austin’s home grown Tex-Mex joints. There are a handful of locations in the city; the original Chuy’s is located on Barton Springs Road, with locations on 183 near the Arboretum, north Lamar, Round Rock and Arbor Trails. The restaurant has a highly eclectic décor, with Elvis paraphernalia (including shrines to The King), hubcaps, strange art and other assorted oddities. In addition to the shrines, most Chuy’s will comp a meal to anyone who shows up dressed as Elvis on his birthday.

Anything with the flour tortillas is good; they make their own, and taste almost sweet, which juxtaposes well with the more often than not spicy food. Ask for the creamy jalapeno sauce with your chips; it isn’t always on the menu, and it’s delicious. They also make a killer margarita.

On nicer days, their outdoor area (especially at the Barton Springs location, though 183 is nice as well) is a fantastic place to eat.

Chuy’s is a part of the “Keep Austin Weird” campaign designed to promote local businesses.
