Where can I fix my broken HP laptop screen for cheap?

I've contacted HP but they want to charge me $800 for my broken laptop screen. I feel that is too expensive and I might as well buy a new computer. Do I have any other options???
Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

You can get laptop screens cheap on Laptop Screen site, they go as low as $60 usd incl up to 360 days warranty. To replace the screen might by challenging but manageable, if you have some tech knowledge follow this tutorial on how to replace a laptop screen and you should be fine. GoodLuck

I had a similar problem with my old laptop.

1.) Search with your computer model number on screencountry.com --most screens are $55-$125 + shipping.

2.) Double check that you found the lowest price for your screen by searching ebay or google shopping. Make sure you buy from a reputable business.

3.) Find a local, privately owned, computer repair shop in your area and ask them to install it. Some of those guys will give you a great deal, some will rip you off. My guess is that a screen repair shouldn't cost more than $75-$150--tops. If they want much more, go to a different repair shop.

All in all--you should be able to get this repaired for $200 if you're lucky, or $275 if not. If you can replace it yourself, it's even cheaper.
