Where can I find what the sources of funding are, of nonprofit organizations?

I have heard that there is a federal law, or there might be some state laws, which require nonprofits to disclose their sources of funding. Is there any website which has all this information?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I don't think you'll find a website.

Non-profits are required to show their finances if asked (by anyone). As I recall, the minimum a non-profit must share is their IRS Form 990. Again, as I recall (I'm just starting to work on mine for this year), there is a section of the major sources of funding on the 990.

There are several websites. Guidestar.com is a good one as 990's are usually posted here. Network for good is also a good third party websites. But as usual, IRS.gov is probably the best website. Particularly if you have questions, as they have a toolkit explaining the new 990's and their implications.
