Where can I find the dimensions for the Grand Canyon?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Quoted from Wikipedia: 'The Grand Canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, up to 18 miles (29 km) wide and attains a depth of over a mile (1.83 km) (6000 feet)'.

Hi @tjaldrum! The Grand Canyon encompasses 1,218.375 acres which represents 1,904 square miles. This Canyon was carved million years ago by the Colorado River. This is the reason why most people measure the size of the Grand Canyon by the length of the portion of the Colorado River from the eastern-most to western-most ends of the Canyon which is 277 miles long.

The Grand Canyon starts at the east from Lee's Ferry that is just under Glen Canyon Dam that forms Lake Powell and ends at Grand Walsh Cliff at Lake Mead.

The Grand Canyon comprises the North Rim and the South Rim and the average distance between the two rims is about 10 miles with the greatest distance being about 18 miles and the least at about 5 miles.

It has an average elevation at the top of the North Rim is about 8,000 ft wit the highest point being 8,800 feet at Point Imperial.
