M$I have used several other sites for traveling. My favorites are priceline, expedia, and the Continental Airlines website. All have good deals and good customer service. Priceline is especially good for deals. One time I got a five star hotel for $50 per night through the name your own price deal.
As for where to go on your vacation, I have no clue. I am not one for tropical destinations, but I was reading a book today in Borders about places you shouldn't go on vacation and a few that were listed were the Bahamas, certain parts of Haiwaii, and the Cayman Islands. For various reasons, but I found the reason valid enough for me to not want to visit.
