Where can I find stats on how much blogs make in advertising yearly?

I am looking for stats on the range of revenue that blogs, both personal and professional, are bringing home yearly.

Specifically, it be nice to see some metrics regarding monthly uniques, and average # of posts and ad revenue.
Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The average annual blogger revenue is more than $6,000 depending what country. Most of this revenue is through advertising. Take a look about half way down the page at.

Google Adsense doesn't let any bloggers divulge info about their earnings. I'm not sure of the approach taken by other companies. It may be similar as there is a real lack of concrete figures online.

This is a very subjective question in that blogs in general have no guaranteed advertising income. The reason for this is that there is a wide range of topics the blogs can be on, the value of marketing that the blog takes in order to be seen, and the method of which your advertisements are displayed to the visitor.

Much of what you'll see on the high end of "what blogs make annually through advertisement" will be blogs that are tailored to a niche and the ads are tailored to the content of the page. A perfect example of tailored ads is AdSense.

You could always look up AdSense statistics, but again, there will be inflated numbers due to the method that they are collected as a whole I would imagine.

Hi claynewton,

The best way to research this is to sign up for a free membership of quantcast.com, a media planning/buying research tool, and look up the actual URLs of blogs you want info on. Based on the ranking and traffic numbers you find and the type of audience the blog caters to you will be able to estimate the types and amount of ad revenue generated.

For example, the blog perezhilton.com most likely charges a CPM between $5 and $20. With around 3 million visitors per month that means banner ads will earn the site between $15,000 - $64,000 per month!

On the flip side, most blogs do not have the type of fan base to garner such CPM buys, so CPC, CPL and CPA become the main way to drive revenue. This then comes down to traffic x conversion percentage x average click revenue. Simply put, if your site averages 10,000 visitors per month and a CPC banner ad has a click through rate of 1% and pays you $.25 per click you will make $25 a month on that banner ad.

This is all very simplified, not sure how detailed you want to get at this point, but I can share some other site monetization answers with you if interested.

best regards.
