Where can I find more information about a HEMI engine that was factory installed in a 1959 Chrysler Saratoga?

I was told it was a racing engine, something special, so why was it factory installed?
Tip for best answer: M$2.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

"Quotes from allpar.com"

(This is a great site with 1.600 pages covering Chrysler corporation cars, minivans, and truck. Is worth visiting and requires extensive reading because there is ample information on Hemi engines).

The 383 cubic inch RB (raised B) engine was only available in 1959-1960 on the US built Chrysler Windsor and Saratoga. To se more about it follow the link below at Plus you´ll fin everything concerning the Hemi engines evolution throughout the years.

Another source is from a complete engine list of which engines went into which cars. Seems that the engine that motorizes the car you are looking for is the RB. What I found is that the RBs are tall deck. The RBs require a wider intake manifold, according to another page at the same site ; you should follow that link too.

Apparently all RB engines use 3.75 stroke crank with different bores. You'll notice that the 383 is listed in two different places. There were two different 383s; the RB is very rare, only produced in 1959 and 1960.
