Where can I find information about the "painted bird" that the Guaraní word 'Uruguay' refers to?
The Guaraní are an indigenous people of South America. Guaraní is one of the two official languages of Paraguay. Uruguay here refers to the river that originates in Brazil and forms the border between northeast Argentina and Brazil as well as the border between northeast Argentina and Uruguay (the country). A link to an image of the bird would be great!

I do not find that the name refers to a specific type or species of bird. It appears the name is based on the setting or landscape of the country. Most of the information that I found explains the name as follows:
The name Uruguay has its origin in the Guaraní language
Painted birds: the name Uruguay has its origin in the Guaraní language and has several translations such as “River where the bird lives”, “river of painted birds”, “river of shells”, “river with many bends”.
