Where can I find images cool display ads (photos, banners) of alternative energy?

Tip for best answer: M$10.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Whatever photos you choose, you must be careful @ copyright. Without the owner's permission, it could land you in a heaping lawsuit, which is the last thing you want over a picture.

If you want a free one, it's best to go to Flickr as someone suggested above, and use the creative commons feature, under the advanced searched. This way, with attribution, the people that place their photos there are allowing you to use the photos, along with crediting.

This site has a few on alternative energy:
http://www.sxc.hu/

Dreamstime is pretty cheap if you're looking for some fairly cheap pictures.

The problem with places like Photobucket is that you don't know if the person uploaded his own pictures or someone else's. If the picture is someone else's, then you can run into legal trouble. Just be careful the pics you choose are original and permission is granted to use them.

Good Luck~

If being careful about copyright for your images is important, you can use the search feature created by Creative Commons Org which will filter your results to a number of search engines for commerical use or modifiy image licenses etc. Its very handy and will search Flickr, Yahoo, Google, SpinXpress etc from the one page - worth checking out if you are always looking for images like me.
http://search.creativecommons.org/

I use Flickr for image searches and one on your topic brought back heaps of images ( over 17,000 for alternative energy ) BUT you can use the filter in Flickr as well to limit your search to Commons images.

If you are prepared to spend money for your images then I can recommend Corbis as a source - the quality is excellent, the prices are very reasonable and the variety is huge!
"Alternative energy"
http://www.corbisimages.com/Search/SearchResults.aspx?q=alternative+energy&ac=null

I've also used Fotosearch which is a com.au site - has plenty of photos that you might not see anywhere else, has over 5800 images on that search

Hope these help

As a photographer, I can tell you to stay far away from even thinking about using a stolen image on the web for anything that supports or is even associated with a project where money is involved. with websites like www.tineye.com it has become a one click system for many photographers including myself to find their images online. All photographs are the property of the photographer, unless specifically stated that they are in the public domain, which very few are. you can be easily sued by a photographer these days, happens all the time. Copyright infringement lawsuits are skyrocketing now with all the images on the internet, I am still uncertain if it is legal to use professional photographers images on the mahalo site since money is involved, I do know that it is illegal to use random images on a blog, and some of these stock library's are actively seeking out these stolen images.

That being said for as low as one dollar you can easily own the rights to use a photo however you like, by purchasing it on one of the major royalty free stock photockgraphy websites. The top of the list as far as cheap images goes:

www.Istockphoto.com (hard to navigate, lots to choose from but my least favorite)
www.Shutterstock.com (easy to use, cheap lots of choice)
www.dreamstime.com (easy to use but slightly lower quality)
www.alamy.com (easy to use and best quality, mostly professional photogs)
www.stockxprt.com (not as many images to chose from but still cheap and easy)

If you are ocnsidering using a creative commons license be aware that this does not mean the same thing as if an image is in the public domain, there are six different creative commons licenses as far as I can tell and they all have different limitations so be very clear what the photographer has allowed the image to be used for......check out this page for further info on creative commons on flickr http://74.125.93.132/search?q=cache:OjVCkfw5sOUJ:www.flickr.com/creativecommons/+flickr+creative+commons&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

Try dreamstime.com or istockphoto.com. The royalty free stock images are quite low cost and you can be sure you don't get a nasty infringement of copyright letter.
