Paganism is not in itself a religion, but rather a belief in certain aspects of life, comparable to the word Christian. Wicca is probably the best known pagan religion. The explanation of paganism regarding Wicca is that all Wiccans are pagans, but not all pagans are wiccans. The same is true for those believing in Celtic polytheism. Celtic polytheism is often referred to as "Celtic pagans". Again, it's safe to assume that all Celtic polytheism followers are pagans, but not all pagans believe in Celtic polytheism.
The definition of paganism is ~quote~ "A Pagan religion is a religion that is not Jewish, Christian, or Islamic and self-identifies as Pagan"~end quote~ according to "The Cauldron," a forum devoted to paganism and the different pagan religions http://www.ecauldron.net/newpagan.php.
,.
Some of the other pagan religions other than Wicca are: The Church of All Worlds, Satanism, and Druidry, among others. Some of the pagan religions believe in higher entities, but when considering joining a pagan group, individual beliefs will determine which sect to join. There are a number of different concepts of the higher entities in paganism. Some believe that there are many gods but they are all part of one god, others believe that each god and goddess is a god unto themselves and should be worshiped as such. Still others believe that the deity will choose its own followers. Others believe that there are no higher dieties and that each individual is a god.
