Where can I find bands to play music for my Christmas party?
What websites have consumer reviews of local bands? Are there bands in my city that I can hire to play at my party?

The very best way to find a band is to go out and listen to bands. Depending on your tastes and what kind of band you’re looking for, if you go to a bar or club where that kind of music is played, you will be able to see the bands in action. On some nights you can probably catch two of three bands at one bar, so I would suggest this idea first.
Secondly, word of mouth is always a good tool. Get the word out and let your friends know you’re looking for a great band for your party and when they begin to suggest bands, check to see if they have a MySpace or Facebook page where you might be able to see video or hear an audio of what they sound like. If these two ideas don’t work for you then I suggest you check out Craigslist, http://www.craigslist.org. There are always bands and other forms of entertainment trying to get gigs on the site.
Again, it is important to note that you should never book anyone without first listening to them first, even if they are referred to you by friends. And, although you may have to give a band a deposit, money should never change hands until a contract is signed.
