The best way to distribute an Indie film is to get that film submitted into film festivals such as Austin Film Festival, Sundance and a plethora of others. Once your film starts to market itself well and is accepted in several film festivals, hopefully places in the top of those festivals, you will then get the attention of a distributor.
That is the route I would take. If the film is not good enough to even enter these big festivals, then you really won't find distribution and will need to set up your own website and market the film yourself.

problem is though, that usually distributors (if you get it...) keeps all your rights for up to 20years!
