Where can I buy a phone card for calls from the US to Senegal and vice versa?

I'd prefer to buy online but could also go to the store. And i'm of course looking for the cheapest rate from a reputable company!
Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

There are several places where you can buy phone cards which work between the US and Senegal. Here are a few links for you to peruse and they seem to have fair, low rates:

http://www.nobelcom.com/phone-cards/calling-Senegal-from-United-States-1-245.html

http://www.alosmart.com/Senegal-Cellular-calling-card-380.asp

http://www.phonecardsmile.com/phone_card_to/Senegal.html (This link has rechargeable phone card plans, too).

This is a new company, but they're pretty well known already and have tv commercials where I live. I use them sometimes for calls to Mexico because it's only 2 cents a minute. It says Senegal is .29 per minute. I don't know if that is good compared to others, but most of their rates are really good, so good luck.

http://www.onesuite.com/ (a site that I use regularly and one that does not have complicated charging rules or hidden fees) charges US$0.2550 per minute. They have 800 number access, local numbers throughout large swaths of the US, and you can buy over the Internet with Visa, Mastercard, and Paypal. Further, all their cards are rechargeable.

http://www.skype.com/ Only allows you to call from a computer on a broadband connection and charges $ 0.269 per minute to a land line and $ 0.300 to a mobile number in Senegal. They also mention a connection fee, but I was unable to find it. Since they are an EU business, your credit card issuer will also charge you an additional "Cross border fee" when you order from them (something I found out when I ordered an internet phone number from them).
Their unlimited world plan does not include Senegal

http://www.globe7.com/ is also a broadband/DSL only service. They charge $0.2253 in general, $0.2328 to mobile numbers, and $0.1469 to landlines in Dakar. I have never used them (I have used the above two), so I can't say how good their service is. I also don't know if they have any hidden fees. However, their FAQ site opened spam popup windows, which is not a good sign.

Ok, so my answer could be way off, but I had a friend who's daughter when over seas to work for a few years and they were asking me the same question. Instead of giving them that answer, I told them to check out skype

http://www.skype.com

If both ends of the line have skype, you can basically talk for free. The quality is better than land lines, and if you have webcams, you can see either other as well.

There are pay options to be able to have voice mail, or call out, or have people call in that don't have skype, etc... and the rates are really cheap.

Not sure if that is what you need it for, but if it is, my friends loved it and still use it. They actually bout some phones that were skype phones but worked like home telephones so they didn't even have to be connected to the computer.

Anyways.. Good luck!

One word. Skype. You have a computer, so as long as they have one there, and you spring for a couple headsets, you are cooking with gas. So much cheaper than any other long distance workaround. Even if you need to call landlines, the subscription plans offer a $9.95/mo unlimited worldwide calling!
The video chats are really the next level in communication though, try to work towards that.
