Where are the best hiking trails in Charlotte, NC?

According to trails.com, these are the best hiking trails in Charlotte, NC.

1. Mount Mitchell - said to be the highest peak of the Mississippi and the crowning part of the Blue Ridge Parkway experience.

2. Uwharrie National Forest Trails - very attractive "best kept secret" where state-designated Scenic Byways meander through the undulating remains of North America’s oldest mountain range.

3. Mount Pisgah Area Trails - will give you a humbling experience as you stopped by Biltmore House House and Garden.

4. Gregory Bald Overnight Loop - the hiking experience combines the best that the high and low country have to offer

5. Appalachian Trail: Clingmans Dome to Spence Field - the hike on this trails are long, difficult but beautiful hike at the end.
6. Appalachian Trail in North Carolina - one of the most difficult but challenging trail which attracts nearly 1,500 hikers.
7. Craggy Gardens Trails - this trail is visible from all over northwest North Carolina which provides barren crests and awesome views.
8. Shining Rock Wilderness Trails - this trail offers some of the southern Appalachians’ most stunning scenery.
9. Shining Rock Wilderness - definitely can catch your attention in which the horizon peels back on an almost Western scale.

10. Linville Gorge Wilderness - comprises a 12,002 acre tract of designated wilderness and lies between Jonas Ridge to the east and Linville Mountain to the west.

11. Appalachian Trail: Allen Gap to Devil Fork Gap - half of this hike borders the Bald Mountain Ridge Scenic Area in the Cherokee National Forest and runs a long rugged, isolated crest and gives outstanding views.

12. Appalachian Trail: Carvers Gap to Roan High Bluff & Rhododendron Gardens - this trail offers a place of mystery, legend, and wild beauty. This is the largest of the southern Appalachian grassy balds and boasts one of the most beautiful displays of Catawba rhododendron.

13. Appalachian Trail: Carvers Gap to US 19E - has wide open spaces, miles of waving grass and wildflowers.

14. Appalachian Trail: Davenport Gap to Max Patch - long distance trails with several ups and downs. This trail is strenuous but generally the grade is good with no difficult rough spots.

15. Foothills Trail: Bad Creek Access to Rocky Bottom - this trail has one long and spectacular section of trail.

16. Graveyard Fields Loop Trail - this trail reaches two waterfalls and explore a high, alpine-like valley.

17. Grandfather Mountain - this trail is a rocky spectacular summit known to tourists for great views from its privately owned road and Mile-High Swinging Bridge.

18. Charlotte Trails - this trails has 35 miles of trails in five nature preserves and another 22 miles in eight urban greenways.
