When's the right time to start sending out Christmas cards?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I think the first or second week of December is fine -- not too early and not too late. There is always a Post Office mail rush throughout December, so send when it feels comfortable for you.

If you send too close to "after Thanksgiving", the cards may not seem like Christmas wishes to many recipients who feel that it is too early to get into the real Christmas mood.

I agree on getting the cards there in time for displaying (on trees, hung on walls, or whatever) and being available for those who like to walk up and look at them.

And if you include a check or gift card, it gives your recipient a chance to use it before the holiday and help with Christmas shopping or buy something special for themselves to celebrate receiving the extra money. Maybe they can buy a special item to use or wear for the actual Christmas dinner that they otherwise wouldn't have.

October, 1st, if you see the supermarkets with their advent calendars, Just after Halloween, when you hear the Christmas songs- not right! Too early, if you ask me. Still, it's a good feel- Start it in April.

I'd say right after Thanksgiving. No more than a week after! It gets to them in time for your card to become part of their Christmas decorations and still be in time for Christmas day. That way it won't miss by a day or two but will be early and ready to go for Christmas day - especially if you include checks or gift cards with them.

Send your cards out so they arrive one to three weeks before Christmas. Christmas cards usually filter in throughout the month of December with the most arriving the second week. Many people like to display their cards to set the holiday mood, so give your Christmas cards a day or two to be showcased!

I like to send my cards so that they arrive about two weeks prior to Christmas. That way, they will not get in caught in the inevitable slowdown that accompanies mail the closer we get to the holiday, and I have time to still get out additional cards if I realize that I missed someone, or if I receive a card from someone I neglected to send to. I love Christmas cards! Even those annoying letters bragging about all the cool things you have done in the past year. ;)

I think you can send them any time in December. If you are a bit late, you can send nice artistic ecards from sites like http://www.ojolie.com or American Greetings.

I prefer to send them out in the first week of December. Sure, some people may go a week or two earlier, but those first Christmas cards get buried and forgotten. By sending them later in the first week of December, you ensure they're going to arrive at the perfect date country-wide.

I will send them out as late as 1 week before Christmas.

I have always sent mine on the first week of December, then they can get across country if that's necessary. In my case it is.
