When you use the term "it's not brain surgery" what do you really mean?

Tip for best answer: M$3.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The phrase "it's not brain surgery" means that a particular concept or task is not difficult. Brain surgery, by contrast, is an extremely difficult endeavor -- if someone's performing surgery on your brain, that takes a lot of time and effort. A similar phrase is "it's not rocket science."

Whatever task I am talking about "isn't very hard."

For example: If I were explaining how to turn on my T.V. to one of my friends, and after 3 or 4 times they still didn't understand how to do it.

I might respond by saying, "Geez man, it's not brain surgery, you idiot."

Or something along those lines..

Is that what you were wanting?

When I say "It's not brain surgery" I am referring to a simple task that doesn't take much brain power to perform. It's a sarcastic way of saying "It's easy".
