I have it better than my parents in the ways I have been able to relate to my children. My parents were old school in the area of discipline. They used the belt more than discussing issues. I love my parents; but I never really developed a relationship where I could truly talk. On the other hand, my daughters and I can talk about everything. I admit somethings are beyond my comfort level. However, I know my children and what they're thinking. They trust me and feel safe enough to let me in.
As an minority, I have it better than my parents in that the world is more inclusive. There are more doors open to me. I can achieve whatever I want as long as I'm willing to put in the hard work and sacrifice. The obstacles for my grandparents and parents were many. They persevered and overcame. I don't have as many obstacles. It's much easier for me.
As a woman, I have it much better than my mother for the same reasons explained above.
I hope my children will have it better than me. With the economy, environment, wars, and such, are our children going to inherit a better world from us?

M$My dad at my age (I believe) had a child and was working 2 jobs. He also I dont believe owned a house (I think he had a trailer). He was also doing drugs (Also selling).
I own my own house, and are working one job (though a second job wouldnt be a bad idea). I am drug free (I drink once in a blue moon), however he had more of an idea of where his life was going (he was going to be a mechanic) I on the other hand am working as a parts manager (I am 21 btw) and I have no idea on what I want to do; or how to go about doing it. I really dont see myself being 54 years old and a parts mangager, A) I think Id kill myself B) Really? 54 and working the same job for 33 years, I dont see that happening.
I cant afford to go to college (not like I have that much time anyways) I get up at 5:40 get dressed drive to work (start at 6:30) leave work at 4ish (get home at about 5ish. I try and be in bed by 10. Hypothetically I could take one class a semester and SLOWLY work into a different job, but I dont know I want to enjoy life to some extent.
Its a hard thing, this life stuff....Dont know who has it better, him or I.
