When will the Chevy Volt be available for purchase?

I've been reading a bunch about the new Chevy Volt that's coming out - but all the Chevy website really says is "the end of 2010" - are there any sources or articles that point to a more specific time for the release of the 2011 Chevy Volt?
Tip for best answer: M$0.43

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Chevy Volt is the latest hybrid vehicle launched by General Motors, that is powered by a battery made of lithium-ion. The vehicle boasts of an electric range of at least 40 miles on a fully charged battery. One of the interesting feature of this hybrid vehicle is that electrical energy is the driving force of the car and its engine is not directly connected to the wheels.

With regards to the availability of the Chevy Volt for purchase, this electric car will initially be rolled out at a number of states such as California, Washington DC, Texas, New York for 2010 and, New Jersey, Connecticut & Michigan on 2011. Accordingly, " the Volt will start at $41,000, tax credits may result in up to $7,500 taken off that price, for a possible starting price of $33,500."

The Volt by Chevrolet, called an extended range electric vehicle by it's maker, is slated to be the next major breakthrough on four wheels. This vehicle, which was a concept car in 2007, has another new competitor being released to the market soon, the Nissan Leaf. The Toyota Prius, already on the market is another solid choice for consumers looking for a hybrid vehicle.

The Volt, who's official release date has been announced to be some time in November, according to a few sources, has an on board gas engine with the purpose of recharging the battery power if necessary. According to US News and World Report;

"The Chevy Volt is scheduled to reach showrooms at the end of 2010, in Michigan, California, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Texas and Washington D.C."

The vehicle's top speed is 100 mph. The base price is $41,000. The maker claims that the car can travel up to 40 miles on one charge alone.
