When starting a blog should it focus on one area such as sports, politics, or history? Or can it cover multiple interests.

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Normally when you start a blog, if you can focus on a particular subject, it would be easier for you

1. If you want to make your blog/site popular the domain of your site influence in it a lot. So if you are focusing only in a particular subject, then it would be easier for you to name.

For example, if you are covering Sports, then you can name flashsports.blog.com or something. So the word sports automatically comes into your domain. Then your site automatically gets a good rank in search result pages. This will result in a good traffic for your site.

If you are planning to cover many interests, then you will be having a domain like troyledsplace.blog.com ...etc.

2. When you update your blog in a particular field, soon you will get a good experience and you will be starting to get new creative ideas on presenting that subject. That is a good way of approaching the audience.

But anyhow, if you want to blog without expecting a revenue/income and doing it for a fun, then it is upto you. Because some people use their blogs like a diary/notebook where they cover multiple topics. So it is really upto you to select whether you are going to cover on a particular or multiple topics.

Happy Blogging !

Cover a single type of topics if you're appealing to a broad amount of viewers as a "web-journalist". If you're blogging to friends and family, talk about anything under the sun - as long as it will interest them!

If you have multiple interests and good in writing about them,do it. Otherwise specialize in one subject.
