When OS 4.0 is released, will my iPad be updated automatically?
Do I have to 'request' the update to 4.0, or will the update be installed on the iPad automatically?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Much like an update on a Macbook, I suspect that you will be prompted regularly to ask if you would like to update your software.
My reason for thinking this is that your iPad may not always be around a good network connection. You may need to wait to update the software until you're at home or at least in a place with fast and secure wifi.
I suspect that you'll see the friendly prompt box on the iPad pop up and say something like "New software is available for your iPad, would you like to update now?"
I also wouldn't be surprised if there was an update for iTunes at the same time as the new software and maybe even an update for your Mac OS software. So, it might be a good idea to check for these things while your iPad is updating so that you can update everything at once!
