When is your time to write?

Do you have a specific time of day that you devote to writing? What made you choose this time of day?
Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Like others who've answered here, I'm a night owl as well. The darkness and stillness help me concentrate and get lost in my thoughts. Oftentimes, I'll start to write in the evening, say, seven or eight o'clock and, before I know it, the window opposite my desk begins to glow with the first light of dawn. Good thing I work for myself now, or I'd really be suffering from sleep deprivation at a job.

I can write articles and essays during daytime hours, but when I'm working on a novel or non-fiction book, I create my best new material during the night. Then I can work on editing during the day.

Being a night owl by nature, I find evenings the best.
Having a new day under my belt gives me fresh ideas. The darkness provides less distractions, but more imagination.
When I write, I like things quiet; I get into a 'zone' and am not bothered by phone calls, doorbells, or unannounced guest.

I always write better at night, but I pretty much do everything better at night really as during the day I don't think my brain's quite ready for action yet.

I'm disappointed in myself as two years ago I was writing for a local magazine, writing on a couple of different freelance sites and getting my name out there but then I descended into drinking, ended up in hospital and moved back in with my parents.

I'm only 21 and I've finally sorted my life out, I've been working full time for a year now and I feel like it might be time for me to start writing again.

I'm going to do it for the right reasons this time though, rather than just to prove myself to others.
