When is the world going to end?

Tip for best answer: M$1.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

With the Earth halfway on its 12 billion year life span, it will be the end after 7.5 billion years, but who knows, life on earth will end faster than we thought by human kind's own arrogance like nuclear war and greed for the worlds limited resources. Or it may be overtaken by events, like virulent diseases, asteroids, comets or hidden planets on collision course with earth and black hole at the center of the milky way galaxy.

-quote-

Like any star, the Sun won't last forever.

There's a short window of about 1 billion years when it's possible for plants and animals to survive on Earth, and that's probably true of any habitable planet. We're already about half way through it.

To simplify a very complicated story about the "devolving" of planet Earth, Brownlee and Ward have reduced its 12-billion-year lifespan to 12 hours, with the end coming at high noon.

It's only 4:30 a.m. in Earth's "day in the sun," as they put it, but by 5 a.m. the 1 billion-year reign of plants and animals will come to an end. By 8 a.m. the oceans will vaporize.

By noon it will all be over, about 7.5 billion years down the road."

The world will end when our sun expands into a Red Giant, engulfing the Earth.

--quote--
About 7.6 billion years from now, the sun will reach its maximum size as a red giant: its surface will extend beyond Earth’s orbit today by 20 percent and will shine 3,000 times brighter.

Damn, I had my calendar marked for 7.5873 billion years! And I was using my updated Mayan Calendar too!

Oh who knows, haha - I bet that article did a lot of rounding so we wouldn't panic at the preciseness of our demise.

Nobody knows accurately, when n how the world is going to end.

In physical cosmology, the Big Crunch is one possible scenario for the ultimate fate of the universe, in which the metric expansion of space eventually reverses and the universe recollapses, ultimately ending as a black hole singularity.

The end of the world is near—December 21, 2012, to be exact—according to theories based on a purported ancient Maya prediction.

Actually the only "end" predicted by the Mayans was their calendar itself. There is no mention of the end of anything else.

Don't believe everything the media sells you. They said the same thing in 1999 and all that happened was 2000.

When you die, the Earth planet is not the world.

And then no one normal ever came back to tell us that there is not another world after you die.

The World (Earth) will never end it will just be refurbished or remolded by god. Man will always reign on earth despite what skeptics say. What does it say at the begining of genesis. In paraphrase god says that man will have dominion over the entire earth and everyting in it. Is god a liar? I think not; he will hold true to his word. There is more I can talk about, but the short answer is no the world will never end, only maybe the world as we know it.

Nobody really knows, but it seems like when we pass a"doomsday date" there's another on one the horizon to "look forward" to in fearful anticipation. Apparently there have been many doomsday dates throughout human history. I doubt December 21, 2012 will be anything but a normal day with people scrambling to get their last-minute Christmas shopping done. Honestly, what are the odds that the world will end on such an odd date as 12/21/12? It will more than likely end on a date with no discerning pattern.

The reality is life on this planet could end at anytime, but probably won't anytime soon. I believe we have many more centuries or even millenia before the world will end. Life on this planet has existed for millions of years and a person's lifetime is such a tiny, miniscule portion of this planet's history. There is an overwhelmingly large chance that it will not end in our lifetime.
