The U.S. Open is held in mid June each year. It is the second of the four Major Championships held each year. The first major is The Masters, the third is the British Open and the last is the PGA Championship.
The U.S. Open is held at different venues each year, generally on the toughest courses in the United States with the toughest conditions. The 2010 tournament was held at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, California. The 2011 tournament will be held at the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland. The Olympic Club in San Francisco, California will host the 2012 event and Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania will host the 2013 tournament. Future sites up through 2019, with the exception of 2018 have already been determined.
