When is the next Blue Moon? Do you do anything special to celebrate a Blue Moon?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

M$And I am not really sure how it got its name, but a long time ago someone had told me that on those dates the moon appears to have a blue shadow...

M$The next Blue Moon is November 21, 2010. It is the 3rd of 4 full moons in a season. Until I started getting conflicting answers to my question, I didn't realize there were two legitimate definitions for a blue moon, so I started digging a little deeper myself. One is the 2nd blue moon in a single month, the other is the 3rd of 4 full moons in a season. The later is actually the original definition of a blue moon whereas calling the 2nd full moon in a single month a blue moon is a more modern interpretation use of the phrase.

Do you know where the name "Blue Moon" came from?
It is very old, the first known reference being in 1528. At that time it referred to an absurd and impossible event, such as the similar notion of the moon being made of green cheese.
