The Macbook is updated fairly regularly, but right now we are midcycle so expect to wait a few more months before the next significant update.
The site in my sources has the following information about the macbook update cycle:
Days since last update: 114 (Average = 195)
The site also includes statistics for the rest of Apple's lineup. I would caution you though that now that Apple no longer participates in Macworld and other conferences that they have in the past their update cycles might get more haphazard instead of being forced to coincide with these planned events.
