The originator of this distortion appears to be Dr. Paul L. Williams, who runs thelastcrusade.org and is vehemently opposed to the policies as well as the personae of the Obama Administration. Writers of chain emails (and leading questions on Q&A sites) are now trying to spread the story.
CLARIFICATION: Dr. Williams' original assertion was that Michelle Obama's staff was "unprecedented" in size. The "no other president's wife needed more than three" part was apparently added to some of the emails.

this is probably the winning answer. it is amazing how people quibble, like when they say, "read the bill" now you care about each member of congress reading the entire bill, they never cared before, I would like to ask all the GOP reps if they read the Patriot act before they voted.
