Passover starts at sundown on Wednesday, April 8th. the first Seder will be that night.
Many calendars will show April 9th as the "1st day of Passover" which is technically correct. But Jewish Holidays always start at sundown. So April 8th is the first night. The holiday continues through Thursday, April 16th and ends at sundown.
The reason for Jewish holidays starting at sundown is that in the story of creation in the old testament it is written that when the creator created the universe, first came evening and then came morning. Please note my attempt at gender/religious neutrality in the previous sentence. I worked a little at that one!

M$Note that in the Jewish calendar, a holiday begins on the sunset of the previous day, so observing Jews will celebrate Passover on the sunset of Wednesday, the 8th of April.
