The unofficial date for release of Microsoft’s Kinect is November 2010 – this was ‘leaked’ a while ago when the device was named Project Natal and coincides with a lot of new released that are Kinect compatible.
As I have all the gaming consoles there’s no doubt I will be buying the Kinect. It really does appeal to me to be able to interact more intuitively with the video game, and having the ability to play games using my full body will undoubtedly help me get fit.
I am also looking forward to this technology changing the way we interact with our home environment – just think of the applications for this kind of technology – control your house from your armchair – do scientific experiments safely at home – control the DVD player without a control – it really does open a whole new world.
Just imagine a doctor in America being able to perform an operation by controlling a robot in Australia…the mind really does boggle!
