When is mango season?

Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

"You can usually find good mangoes on the market from January through September. The poorest time is toward the end of the year - November and December. Mangoes are good early in the season, but like oranges, they're at the peak of flavor toward the end of the season."

* Mexican mangoes: Peak season begins in late March and lasts through September
* Florida mangoes: May through September
* Haitian mangoes: January through September
* Brazilian mangoes:September through January

In India we start getting mangoes mostly around late March/early April and then continue till about late Jun/July. This is the time when most of the homegrown fresh fruits are available and at its ripest and sweetest best :) The Alphonso variety is probably what makes Mango the king of fruits though I also like our own Southern "Banganapalli"

There is no mango season, mango fruit are available worldwide year round. This is because the mango is a tropical fruit which does not grow except in frost free climates, and the temperate world's seasons are not found in the tropics. Also, there are more than 1000 varieties of mango. Near the top and bottom of it's range there is some seasonal effect. In Florida different varieties of mango are best at various times from May through October. In Australia production is from October to January.

That depends on the elevation and the variety. The earliest mango's are ready about the last week of May, but these are usually found at sea level. I know that the mango's in Lahaina can ripen in late May. As the year moves along, the mango's at the higher elevations ripen. This happens though September, but mango's can hang on the tree through October.
Here is a link to some people who have mangos.

Wish I could show a pic of mine, but the pic is buried somewhere on my computer.
