When is Hulu coming to Australia?

They say that Hulu is coming to Australia, they want to expand their network. I've heard about Hulu here at Mahalo but I know nothing about the service or company.

Is Hulu any good? Can you tell me what the good and bad points about it?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Hulu is commercially supported streaming video of TV shows and movies from companies like NBC, Fox, ABC and many other networks and studios. It also distributes video on its own website and syndicates its hosting to other sites allowing usier to embed Hulu clips on their websites. Aside from NBC, ABC, and FOX programs and movies, Hulu also carries shows from other networks like Comedy Central, Current, TV, PBS, USA Network, Bravo, Fuel TV, FX, NFL Network, Speed, Big Ten Network, Syfy, Style, Sundance, E!, G4, Versus, A&E, Oxygen and online comedy sources such as Onion News Network.

It has also bean partnerships with music record labels EMI to host music videos and concert performances in November of 2009 and with Warner Music Group in December 2009.

Here is what Hulu can offer:
- 2200 TV shows and film titles
- screens live events plus more than 70,000 and 15,000 hours of total content.
- free to web users
- platform enables you to tailor campaign and interactive components like the viewer will be able to select which ad they want to watch

It is currently available in the US only but it is planning to expand to 10 more countries including Australia. However there is no specific date yet when they will be available in Australia for there are significant challenges that have to be addressed first before they can operate in Australia.

Because of copyright issues, it is very unlikely that Hulu or Pandora (a similar service as Hulu, but for audio) will come to any country, other than the United States.
However, there is a great solution for that, which is described in How To Access Pandora From Outside the US. Check it out, with that guide, you can access Hulu from wherever you want, including from Australia.

...just curious.....If they weren't planning on extending to other countries why write the newspaper article in an Australian paper talking about it? that makes me think it is getting over this copyright issue .... I think it is going to expand but not sure of the time-frame.... and why its good or bad.....
