When is enough, enough?

Just wondering. I just see a lot of excess lately.

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I'll answer in two parts.
  1. Enough for someone else: "The right to swing my fist ends where the other man's nose begins." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. As long as someone else's excess does not infringe on my liberty (time, money, health), then their excess is none of my business.
  2. Enough for ourselves: I tend to excess when I am attempting to wrap meaning or happiness into something that just can't give me that. If I buy clothes to make me happy, it won't work, and I'll buy clothes excessively. Same thing with drinking, working, entertaining, etc.
We all seek for balanced, happy lives, and the best way to keep things in balance is to keep your focus on things that really matter. Anything that is taking time away from what is really important is excess.

God: When you decide so, say so. "Excess" is relatively subjective, however "you" are in charge of your destiny. If you think it's enough (or too much) then move in a different direction, change focus. Each soul is unique, so are you. Let everyone be themselves (as long as it's not harming anyone) and you be you.

Are you pretending to speak for God? Because that's really not a good thing to do.

Yeah. I think people may take offense at that. It makes me a little uncomfortable to be honest.
