When eating spicy food, why does it burn when it "comes out" of your body?

Occasionally, I eat spicy food, but not as much as I used to. Now, when I eat it and it's digested, when I go to the bathroom, it burns when I'm em ... you know ... defecating. I want to know why.

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Capsaicin, the active ingredients in hot peppers, is contained in the membranes and seeds of the "hot" food. After you eat the food, your body doesn't absorb large amounts of the compound, which is used in the self defense of the chili plant. (It is worth noting that the hottest peppers are the result of selective breeding by man). This compound then spreads more evenly across the entire contents of your stomach and digestive tract.

Capsaicin is a powerful irritant. It can burn your eyes, your nose, your mouth, and yes, even the sensitive skin "down there".

What goes in must come out!
Capsaicin in chili peppers is what makes food spicy. Capsaicin works well in that it is hot going in and hot coming out.
Yogurt actually may help. It restores helpful bacterial cultures in the colon and calms things down. A touch of aloe vera on a suppository help calm things down too.
Hope that "ends" the matter cleanly :D
