Summer for Western countries start at the solstice mentioned above, but in other places in the world, especially coastal regions where the season changes happen later than elsewhere have corresponding later seasons. In some places the solstice marks the middle of summer. In southern and southeast Asia, summer lasts form March to late May or early June when the monsoons sweep the land.
