When did you last give a Continental damn? Or someone you know. Or not?
While researching an answer, I came across a CNN transcript from 2000 in which CNN anchor Kyra Phillips and CNN correspondent Larry Woods interview a ninety year old homespun artist William Payton Harris. At one point Harris says "Well, I took one year at Auburn in applied art, and it wasn't worth a continental damn." It transpires in the transcript that neither Phillips nor Woods have any idea what a Continental damn is. I am old enough to remember people using the phrase to represent something worthless, and I have researched where it came from. What I am asking here is, have you heard anyone use the phrase "Continental damn" and when did you last hear it (if you can remember)?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.
