Mark Twain (whose real name is Samuel Langhorne Clemens) has of course wrote many of the great American classics and is known for his satire and lively stories. Before his death he gained great acclaim with the higher ups of American and European society and his books were widely and read and distributed. According to William Faulkner, Mark Twain is the father of American literature and quite a few will agree to this. His works still live on today even. It looks like there are quite a few of Mark Twain's books that are scarce, rare or now out of print. The second link below should help you further look through these titles. There's actually a surprising number of books that are now hard or nearly impossible to find by this acclaimed author. However the books we've grown up with and cherished are still in print.
