Hello Couponchic,
It is very difficult to exactly pinpoint when they first appeared on Earth. According to the historians and scientists from the National Museum of Natural History, mammals may have evolved sometime in the Permian Age (early Triassic period), say, around 270 million years ago. The earliest records of mammals on Earth were the descendants of four-legged synapsids who eventually diversified into warm blooded cynodonts. Cynodonts were early mammal-like reptiles (dinosaurs) that dominated the world about 250 million years ago.

British sources believe that the first mammal belonged to the genus Morganucodon that lived somewhere around 200 to 210 million years ago. This weasel like animal was found as fossil in caves in Wales and around Bristol but later reported from China, India, Western Europe, North America and South Africa.
