When did certain sitcoms "Jump the Shark" ? Tell me the best jump the shark moment.
IMO The Nanny jumped the shark when she married her boss
Lavern and Shirley jumped the shark when Shirley married Carmine
Jonie and Chachee never had a shark. Their spin off was gruesome.

But the worst shark jump of all-time?
Roseanne
For me, the ultimate shark jump! There are so many different arguments as to when it happened. Aside from all the lottery craziness of the last season, for me the show jumped long before that when Roseanne turned really mean. For a while there in later season she only delivered her lines in two ways: Shouting and mumbling. Wasn't funny anymore, not really.
So I pinpoint the giant Roseanne shark as....:
~~~When Roseanne opened the Lunchbox Diner.~~~
That's about the time Becky got replaced, Roseanne turned mean, Jackie turned bitter, DJ got creepy and irritating, and the plots got edgy just for the sake of being edgy.
M$@ irig Agree with the changing of the mom. Several characters changed in different shows that jacked up the character. Becky changed and she was no longer a hard ass and became some sweet character without a spine. I missed the old Becky terribly :)
I hated that when they brought in the new Vivian, they also completely changed the personality of the character as well :(
M$Agree! Although, in their defense they tried to explain it at the end of the showing saying that once Darlene got married and Dan died, she was writing a (book?) and wrote and changed things to the way she wanted them. (for instance, Jackie was gay not her mom, Darlene really married mark and Becky married David) *very good example though* I hated it after the lotto thing.
Ooh, the first show I thought of was Roseanne. Good call!
I actually thought Roseanne maintained some quality by introducing the story of Dan's affair. And of course the last episode where they revealed it never happened, and Dan had actually died of his heart attack. Sad ending to a series...
M$I think the show always addressed some serious issues. Most notably, being blue collar and how much working families flirt the line with complete poverty. They also talked about drugs, teen sex, death, child abuse, and mental illness.
I always thought that Dan's affair was a sucky storyline, because the once incredibly funny show turned too serious.
Thanks all.
Yeah, @drmatt, I was amazed at how much the show transformed in such a short period of time. The first two-three seasons still make me laugh! But the later ones are just SO unwatchable. I still miss the lovable Roseanne who just worshipped her family and new how to have fun.
RE: Roseanne... I totally agree. I watched the first few seasons and Barr was funny and kind. Then... she turned mean. You really hit it!
Wow great answer!
*CLAP CLAP CLAP* You sum it up awesomely!
