When did artists start using anime?
What is the history behind the creation of anime and how long have they been using it in Japan? Does the United States use anime in its cartoons and t.v. shows, and if so when did they begin using it?

In Japan the art of anime began in the 20th century. It was developed out of western animation techniques. Famous Japanese anime artists like Hayao Miyazaki and Mamoru Oshii gained fame during the start of the anime boom. Films and series like Akira, Steamboy, Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, and the huge hits Pokemon, Ghost in the Shell, and Cowboy Bebop - put the anime genre over the top into the mainstream.
It wasn’t until the 80’s until Japan recognized anime as an art and accepted it into their mainstream. In the US anime started to gain notice in the 90’s and popularity in the early 2000’s.
