When are modifiers used?
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

According to “A Commonsense Guide to Grammar and Usage: Third Edition” written by Mark Lester “modifiers are words that describe or give additional information about other words in a sentence.” You can modify many different of speech such as nouns, verbs, adverbs, or adjectives.
Here are a couple examples:
She has a red ball.
'Red' modifies the noun 'ball' by providing additional descriptive information about the ball. So you see with a noun, in English, the modifier goes before the noun.
He walks slowly.
The word 'slowly' modifies the verb 'walks' because it adds descriptive information to tell the reader how the verb is being done. Note that the modifier goes after the verb!
Now be careful when using modifiers. There is such a thing as a dangling modifier and a misplaced modifier. These are incorrect ways of using modifiers.
