When a couple gets engaged, who buys the man's wedding ring? Himself or his fiancée?

I don't know why I've never known this. I could ask my mom but she's at work. I'm thinking the woman buys the ring for the man.

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Yes, the Bride usually pays for the Groom's wedding ring and the Groom's wedding gift. The Bride also purchases the gifts for the bridal attendants, the bridal attire and accessories, wedding consultant and Bridal luncheon.

The man usually buys the engagement ring, however this is not always true as on rare occasions a woman will ask a man to marry him.

Check out this "who pays for what" guide:

I'm not looking to buy right now. I'm just looking for styles. I'll try to remember to take a picture of the rings and send it to you sometime. They're gorgeous, but they need to be cleaned. I'm not even engaged, my mom's saving the rings for when David is ready to ask me.

I would highly advise against buying a ring over the Internet. There are a few trusted sources online, but it's best you see it.

I asked David to marry me and he didn't say "No." He just said "Wait until we move out." since we both still live with out parents though we have a daughter together. Anyway... I have my rings but they were my Gram's. She gave them to me before she passed away. But I want to find a ring for David that matches my rings. Do you know of a website that has antique wedding rings? They are from 1948. Yellow gold and platinum.

As your wedding ring is one of the most important symbols of the love that you share together, it also becomes a physical representation of your bond. Careful attention to the details of your wedding ring is important because it will be around for the rest of your life.

As far as I know, it is the man who buy the rings. They come in pairs, so the man buys two rings, and offers one to the woman when he proposes.

When I was engaged, my husband bought a set, and gave me the engagement ring when I accepted the proprosal. The wedding ring matches it and I wear them both now that we're married.

I bought my husband's wedding ring, and my mother bought my father's wedding ring.

The man does not wear a ring until he is married to his fiance, and this is the ring she buys.

I think it all depends on the couple and their culture. In addition, their family's social level can influence the couple when they have to make this decision. Now days I know many couples that, because they are the ones paying for everything, they buy the rings themselves. They go to the jewelry store, select the rings together, and pay for it from a checking account they have together.

Well if you evaluate your question in its entirety a couple who is engaged is making a lifelong commitment to one another, to become one, and share in all of life's ups, downs, and in betweens. As an engaged couple does it really matter who purchases the ring? Really if a couple is committed to that relationship "What's mine is yours, and what's yours is mine!"

However in my opinion, if money is seperated, I think it only right for the man to buy the woman's ring and vice verca. It's 2009. It really all depends on what a persons own beliefs are.

When the man goes to a jeweler´s to buy the wedding ring, they offer him two rings: one for the woman, the other for the man. The two rings are of the same kind. So, in this case, the man may buy both rings. It is, of course, an option.
Nowadays, women work as men and can pay for most of the wedding expenses. But there is no romanticism in sharing the bill of the rings. As in many other expenses.
Sorry for the opinion, anyway, but when the marriage starts to sound like a fair and profitable enterprise, it is better to marry a partner, not a woman you love. True marriage in based on feeling, satisfaction, and mutual help. Don´t think about the bonus at the end of the month. In this case, the best investment is the happiness of your woman.

I guess I might be a simpleton but by the time you are engaged isn't it "our" money and not hers and mine, and the two of you make an adult decision together?

I might be a little off because my wife and I were together and lived together for 4 years before getting married, oh well.

maybe it's the acting like toddlers with the " mine vs yours" mentality that leads to the 40 to 50 percent divorce rate in the United Sates.

Men do not traditionally get an "engagement ring" but they do get a wedding band of course.

Bride's engagement ring and wedding band: bought by groom

Groom's wedding band: Bought by bride

Bridal gift: Bought by bride for groom

Honeymoon: bought by groom for bride.
