What/Who do you think are the top 25 most memorable events/people of 2008?

Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES WIN THE 2008 WORLD SERIES. :) Their last win was in 1980, (their last appearance was in 1993 when Mitch "wild thing" Williams gave up a series-losing home run to a team that wasn't even American: the Toronto Blue Jays) after which the city of Philadelphia FINALLY allowed buildings to be built taller than Philadelphia City Hall, which has a large statue of William Penn on top of it. The Phillies (until this year) had never won and many superstitious people called it "Billy Penn's curse" because he was no longer the tallest/highest item in the city, which is now a Comcast skyscraper...which put a small William Penn statue on the roof to appease the superstitious.

I wouldn't include more than half of what Sara said, although instead of 'economy tanks' I'd call it something more like 'after stealing 2 elections George W. Bush bilks the government out of billions of dollars to give to his friends and declares an illegal, immoral, unconstitutional war against Iraq and had it's president executed because Hussein refused to share his oil with the rest of the world.'
