What's Your Favorite Sci-Fi Movie Monster?

Photobucket
Tip for best answer: M$1.35
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I know you stated "monster" in your sentence, but I'd like to point out that human nature would find anything alien a "monster." So going under that definition that all aliens are monsters (though not all appear negative or evil) I will have to say that E.T. is my absolute best favorite alien monstor of all time.

Sure he's cuddly, he's harmless, but he's an alien which is a monster. But he didn't feel like one. He felt like a friend. So my choice is the friendliest alien monster of all-time, E.T.

We rooted for him, cried when he was dying and the cried when he left Elliot. Doesn't get better than that for a sci-fi alien.

The artwork of H.R. Giger who created the monster in Alien, still to this day gives me the shivers. http://www.hrgiger.com/alien.htm

What makes this monster special is its ability to mix DNA with any mammal it chooses to infect. I have truly enjoyed watching my favorite Sci-Fi Monster mutate with each new story line.

What has also kept this monster fresh is the infusion of different directors with each film. For that reason I cannot pick a favorite. Not only is Sigourney Weaver the heroine of the movie(s), but the star Alien monster is female too. I can't think of any other Sci-Fi story line with the same unique feminine chemistry.

John Carpenter's the "Thing."
Roger Ebert said "among the most elaborate, nauseating, and horrifying sights yet achieved by Hollywood’s new generation of visual magicians", and "a great barf-bag movie."

No CGI.
Great old school, made with human hands special effects.
No real form.
We never know what it looks like in original form.
Watch it alone, at night when it is snowing.

I like the sci-fi alien in Arnold Schwarzenegger starred Predator (1987) in which the alien monster could only see the humans only by the heat they emitted out from their body.

And the best seen is when the predator laughs

Godzilla, he has been around for 50 years! His spectacular destructive power is thought to be a metaphor for nuclear weapons.

Another reason I really love Godzilla is for his range in roles . . . I know that sounds odd, but he has been in various movies as a destroyer, but in other times he has been the defender of Japan.
