What's your favorite "anniversary" memory?

Two years ago today I married my incredible wife - huzzah! We celebrated in style (for the cheap, of course) in sunny "Palm Springs" California. Good food, great sites, mountain-top hiking - oh my! The year before, we toured the glamorous Fresno California (joke, it's far from glamorous, but we had a BLAST!)

What are some of your favorite anniversary memories? Whether it's an event, a present, a poem, a meal, or anything else - share with us some of your happy thoughts!

I have several:

Our first anniversary, we went to a very nice hotel an hour from home, and had reservations at a restaurant that served all kinds of exotic meat, from rattlesnake to...oh, things like gnu and wildebeest. The only thing was it was the opening night of the Pan Am Games, and the restaurant didn't honor our reservations and were out of our first 3 meal choices! Eventually we were served, with less-exotic food than we'd hoped for. But going up the elevator with Mohammed Ali, and finding he had the suite across from ours, kind of made up for it.

Second anniversary: went with our best friends (still best friends) on a camping vacation up the St. Laurence Seaway to Montreal and then down into upstate New York. We had a great meal at a restaurant on Lake Placid while they stayed back at the campsite to give us space, even though we asked them along. The food and views were fantastic. Two nights before, we'd camped on a peninsula that jutted out into the seaway with a lighthouse on it, and a fabulous view of Montreal.

A couple of years ago, for our 20th anniversary, we left the kids with the grandparents and walked down the road to a terrific restaurant on their bay. They live on a large lake with 5 bays, and there used to be a restaurant on the end that had been written up in food magazines. It had seating inside by a huge fireplace or in the bar; it had seating in a long, screened-in deck overlooking the bay and the largest part of the lake; and it had seating on the dock. People were pulling up all evening long in their boats to eat. We sat in the screened deck, looking down the lake where we could see the sunset. It was fabulous. They went under after October 2008, but the location is now open again as a pretty good Mexican place, serving food that costs 1/3 of the price. They're always crammed, just like the original place was.

Congrats on celebrating two years!

Congrats on 20 happy years together! All of your anniversaries sound exciting and memorable for lots of great reasons (I mean common, rattlesnake!) Can't wait to hear what how you celebrate the next one :-D

Yeah, everyone thinks of rattlesnake on their anniversary! :-) I was trying to find an actual picture of the lake restaurant to post, and the only ones I could find were of Obama and Biden eating burgers there. It didn't really show the restaurant or views, and gave a misleading idea of the usual cuisine (think Iron Chef or Giada diLaurentis). I think the burgers were picked because it's in a rural area in a flyover state. Or maybe they just wanted burgers. :-)

Oh Corey... Happy Anniversary!

I celebrate the anniversary of my first date with my significant other.
This December 27th with be our sixth Anniversary and I'm hoping for a repeat of last year.

Last year we dined on crab legs while sipping rum and watching the sunset at a nice restaurant at the mouth of Dog River and Mobile Bay. Just like @tracebook's restaurant for her 20th, this place has a dock to pull up in your boat and eat. There is such a boat loving community here... I love it!

Nothing is more romantic than having the guy get excited about an Anniversary... so brownie points to Corey and my honey!

That sounds beautifully relaxing! Now that I know where you'll be, I hope you don't mind if I "crash" such a cool sounding event ;-)

Well I can remember each one of them being special and we will be celebrating our 39th next month.
We've celebrated our anniversary doing everything from digging for diamonds in Arkansas to dining at Tavern on the Green in Central Park on the Upper West Side of New York City, sadly its now closed.

It's difficult to pick a favorite, but if I had to it would be our 25th anniversary which we enjoyed on Maui.
We began the day greeting the Sun as it rose from the top of Haleakala volcano,it was a beautiful sight and we just knew the day was going to be magical.

From there we made our way to the Blue Hawaiian heliport where we departed on a 4 hour tour of Maui and the island of Molokai, landing in a secluded spot near Hana, Maui where we enjoyed a private lunch.

From there we made our way into Lahaina where we visited the gallery of Christian Riese Lassen, bought a nice piece of his work that we both love,

had a cocktail and headed upcountry where we exchanged our vows once again at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church,in Kula.

Then we made it back to our cottage in time for dinner on the lanai and a few very old and sinfully good bottles of wine while we enjoyed the same Sun we had watched rise... slowly set.
It really was a perfect day with my perfect Lady.

Oh yes. The memories...It was my 5th wedding anniversary, I was 8 months pregnant with my first child. My then husband comes home from work with a big smile on his face. He had a surprise for me that I was just going to love. He asked me to go to the front porch of our apartment and close my eyes while he opened the door to check out our gift "to each other" as he put it. I went to the door, closed my eyes and when he opened it and told me to open my eyes, I was shocked. I thought I was going to go in labor right then and there. There sat a big red and black 250 XL motorcycle. A dirt bike at that. One matching helmet with a big red bow. He spent over $5000 on a toy for himself when we hadn't even bought a crib or furniture for our new baby. That was just a preview of what the next 7 years with this man turned out to be.

Everyday when I wake out, I thank the Sun for rising and I kiss my wife for without her, my life has no Dawn. Thus I treat each and everyday as it was our first and last day together. i guess each day is our anniversary.

Congrats! I just celebrated (kind of), my third anniversary in August. Our first anniversary we stayed at our friends cabin. The only money it cost us was gas to get out there and food for the weekend. The cabin sits a top a hill, on land that she owns. It was great exploring with him, and doing 'extra curricular' activities. It was perfect because we only had each other and no interruptions or distractions.

The one that sticks out the most, and got me to smile was last year. We have an anniversary that falls on Halloween, so typically I would think it could be a lot of fun planning events. I didn't however take into account that one of these days he may try to scare the crud out of me.

It was about 6 AM, and I got up to take the dog out, when I came back in, I had noticed he rolled over, me being grumpy and groggy made some snarky comment about him doing so and climbed back into bed. About 5 minutes later, he rolled over and I went to turn my head back for the good morning kiss and he had this AWFUL mask on, scared me clear into the other room. It was very unexpected, and I was a little ticked off, but he did feel bad afterwords which lead to a great rest of the day.

I guess he originally had planned to just take me to the Olive Garden, maybe a movie and back home. Instead we ate at a really fancy restaurant that was a few hundred feet in the air, almost like a mini, square Space Needle. We then went to a movie, then he took me out for this crazy fancy dessert, and took me shopping and ended up spending a few hundred more then he planned.

Needless to say by the end of the night I was no longer mad at him, and we had some to the agreement to not scare each other on our anniversary so there are no sour feelings throughout the day.

My fav anniversary memory isnt actually an anniversary. Its our wedding and honey moon. We did it up in Vegas! Planned the wedding there, he has family who lives there, so we were able to not spend a fortune! We had a blast. Then our honeymoon was a week in Vegas. So much fun! So many pictures. Great times, good drinks, good food. lots of money lol..

It was fun.
Def something I would never ever forget. (especially seeing my husband so drunk he trips over his own 2 feet! Hes never let himself get that wasted, and still today I havent seen him as drunk as that lol.)

My husband and I had a small, but very fun party for one of our anniversaries. We just had a few friends over and were having alot of fun when he pulled a small ring box out of his pocket and gave it to me in front of everyone. It was the most prettiest diamond ring ever. Not like an engagement ring just a second diamond ring. I was sooo surprised I cried in front of everyone. lol But it was beautiful. This is not the ring , But you get the message right lol.
