I must've gotten it in the early 1990s. I actually stopped using it for a long time from the mid 1990s, perhaps because I went through a variety of Psion handhelds (Series 3, Series 5 etc) that had good calculators and spreadsheets on them, so I didn't need a separate calculatior too often.
Now those Psions have died, and my handled gadget of choice, the iPhone, is not esp good as a calculator - even though I have a 48SX emulator app installed on it! So one day I happpened to dig out the HP48SX, and found it's just as great as ever.
The HP48SX is maybe tech from the old school, when devices were engineered to last through a lifetime of professional use. It's egnonomics and build quality is streets ahead of most modern gadgets.

M$I would venture a bet that nearly ever person on the planet uses one version of the wheel or another at least once a day.

M$If we do go down the route of "earliest invented tech still in use"... I think the first tech or tools ever invented were stone hammers, knives and axes. I don't use a hammer very often, but I do use knives several times a day.
Yeah, the wheel is pretty old, but I think fire is older, and I think a club is older still, although most people probably don't swing a club daily.
I think he meant more "I still use the same turntable I've had for thirty years", rather than "the wheel". I could be wrong. :)

I had a Casio 501P that must've been from the early 80s. It was a beautiful thing, but I think I gave it to someone else when I got another calculator. It probably works just fine still, if whoever has it actually uses it!
I have an old Casio fx-415m which is my only calculator, although I do not use it so much these days.
It dates back to the 80's
