What's wrong with my stomach?
Bitter melon and crab used to be my favorite dishes but I couldn't eat them anymore. My stomach gets too upset with even just a taste. What's common in these foods?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Ok for starters I am not a doc and dont even watch them on TV! But here is my two cents - The commonality between the two is they both lower insulin levels. But I cannot really draw an association between a lower insulin level and an upset stomach. Low sugar usually means nausea or clamminess, disorientation etc
Bitter melon is generally good for the pancreas but it sounds almost like a pancreatic attack. Possibly from a higher fat content/richness of the crab?
My other non medically related questions are these:
Are you always cooking them together? If so, is there another ingredient you use in the preparation which could be causing an allergic reaction?
Do you always by them from the same market and is anyone else sick even slightly from them? Is it possible there is something toxic about the items themselves?
Sure hope you figure it out. I'm not a huge fan of bitter melon but I do eat it for the health benefits.

I haven't tried cooking them together but I'm not eating them anymore. And I'm so afraid the pain could be much worse when they're combined together. Idk, other family members were not sick eating them, it's just me. Maybe I need to ask this from my doctor. Thanks @maggieray!
