What's wrong with my 1991 Lumina's windshield wipers?

Sometimes fuses look ok, but they are actually dead. So try first to replace the fuse and then see if you can hear the motor coming on. If you do, then check the motor and the transmission. See the link I provide, that shows you how the wipers actually work and look for the transmission in your car:

M$The cam or the worm gear could be slightly bent or out of place. Turn the wipers on and listen for any noises - if they are making some noise but not moving that's probably the case.
If there is any noise lift them of the glass, turn them on and try to move them in either direction with your hand. With a little luck you might be able to put them back in place.
If there's absolutely no noise your wiper electric motor could be toast.
See this site to understand better what I mean.

Hope this helps,
