There is much to do in Balboa Park. It is known as an Urban Cultural Park. containing over 10 museums (i.e. San Diego Air and Space Museum, Museum of Photographic Arts, and much more!), top-notch performance venues, beautiful outdoor parks, trails, restaurants, and San Diego Zoo. Patrons are allowed to walk to grounds of Park free of charge. The park offers Day Passes for admission to its many museums. Instead of purchasing a ticket at each and every museum, the park gives you this park pass as a convenient one-time purchase. Balboa Park contains many museum and cultural center gift shops. Though there aren't any rides, the surrounding park and museum atmosphere provide endless opportunities for family.

Balboa Park in San Diego, California is not just a park. It is called the nation’s largest urban cultural park. Balboa Park contains 15 major museums, beautiful gardens, the San Diego Zoo and renowned performing art venues. On their calendar of events, they have plays, concerts and museum exhibition events.

The museums range from art to science to air and space to anthropology or natural history. The performing arts perform at the Tony Award winning Old Globe to concerts on the magnificent Spreckels Organ Pavilion outdoor stage. Balboa Park is known for their lush landscaping and lovely gardens. And of course, you can’t forget the San Diego Zoo. This park is a great place for fun for all ages in the family and recreation for all. Plus, don’t forget the unique shopping, casual outdoor dining and restaurants.

There are plenty of things to do at Balboa Park. There is a visitors center gift shop that has handmade creations by Park artists, Balboa Park logo-ware, books, videos and CD's. The Museum Stores of Balboa Park have jewelry, artifacts, gardening items, books, folk art and more. You can also visit the UN Building's International Gift Shop, the Spanish Village Gift Shop that contains items from 50 artists and The Old Globe for products related to the theater as well as performances such as plays and concerts. There is also restaurant and casual outdoor dining available.

There are plenty of attractions for kids that enjoy cars, trains, planes, dinosaurs, planets, sports, art, flowers and animals. The best places to take the kids are Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, San Diego Natural History Museum, San Diego Air & Space Museum, San Diego Automotive Museum, San Diego Hall of Champions, the San Diego Model Railroad Museum, the San Diego Zoo.
