What's the worst movie you've ever seen?

To me, there's really two categories of bad movies: Bad movies that were made by big studios with the expectation of putting together something really GOOD, and bad movies that are understandably bad, because they were made by rank amateurs on a shoestring. The former movies get me more UPSET, because there was money and people who should have known better behind them. Into this group, I'd put disasters like ''Speed Racer'', ''Garden State'' and ''Pearl Harbor''.
I almost have a bit of affection for the latter category. Even when these movies are atrocious, they are PERSONAL and handmade. Some individual or small group of individuals put their heart and soul into them, which makes them just generally more charming and less loathsome.
However, to be fair, I have to admit that a lot of grindhouse or amateur low-budget movies are scorchingly terrible. I've seen a lot of truly awful movies, but I think the absolute worst may be "Manos: The Hands of Fate." It was memorably given the ''Mystery Science Theater 3000'' treatment a few years back, which is good, because that's really the only way to watch the movie. You'd never make it through this disaster on your own. Just unbelievable that anyone actually bothered to put this nonsense on film:

M$I watched it three or four years ago and, well, that's 119 minutes of my life that I'll never get back...
Here's the Wikipedia page for the details regarding this monstrosity:

I would advise you to NEVER WATCH THIS FILM if you haven't already. Seriously, it really was that bad!
Here's the trailer - almost as bad as having to sit through the entire film...

M$I'm guessing Cosby hated it just as much, if not more, than the rest of the population. Here's a funny review:

Picture if some film maker decided to make the following:
Stage musical "Cats" + "Demolition Man" movie - Sylvester Stalone - plot + Marlon Brando + blood.
It's hideously awful. I dare you to try and sit through the whole damn thing. Really. My husband and I laughed at the camp for about 60 minutes, but when the movie KEPT GOING, we started to hide our faces. It took a feat of strength to finish it (and we only did so on principle!).

I'd describe the plot...something about a pale strange scientist who creates genetic mutations of people and animals on an island....but really, just look at those pictures for 99 minutes. And that's it. That's the movie.
Painful. I've never seen anything like it.
(and I watched the Monkees' movie, "Head"!)

M$Theoretically, it's about a rapid deployment unit that responds "whenever freedom is threatened." In fact, it explores how far the gold jumpsuit will go up Barry's bottom (clip 2), and we are given lots of close ups to judge for our very own selves.
Flying motorcycles that shoot missles and automatics weapons. Lots of wheelies in the desert. The heroes include a deliberate mix of races, probably to be politically correct, but it looks like the after-music career of the Village People with all the horrible acting. Cheesy 80's music.
I'm sorry...I've been dancing around it trying to spare you from salty language, but this movie is CRAP! I offer you clips of the "best" scenes to spare you from 90 minutes of agony.
90 minutes of sitting, stunned, waiting for the laugh track. I can't believe I watched the whole thing.

M$This was either a "love it or hate" it type movie, and many of my friends were it the love it camp. But I could find nothing redeeming about it. There was a bad plot, tied together with gratuitous everything.....

That made me chuckle as back in the early 80's when I was just a kid my mom _loved_ this movie and we were forced to watch it each and every time it came on HBO, and then we got a BetaMax and the torture was on demand.
I used to tell her "Mom this is the worst movie ever made!" and she never would even consider this opinion as I was only a child, funny how justified and insightful I feel now that I have read the IMDB description.

M$Really....wow. That is kinda hard to grasp.
Actually, I wish I could answer again because I just thought of one I felt was worse. It was a 1976 movie called "Squirm" about man-eating earthworms. I watched it as a very, very young girl and I was too scared to shower for years afterward, opting for a bath instead so I could watch and make sure earthworms didn't come out of the facet instead of water. LOL
Giving you a helpful vote since I don't understand how @expertknowledge can click "unhelpful" on an opinion answer...
I guess I just didn't get it. Andrew4423, I've never seen Super Baby Genius or Epic Movie, so I can't say really. All I know is, when I watched it 15 years ago, I was bored to tears and completely confused with what the hell was going on. I understood about Hal, but had no clue as to what the ending with the baby was all about.
I agree with buddawiggi that unhelpful votes should not apply to opinion questions. It's just an opinion. I already knew my answer wouldn't get best answer. If I was wanting to get best answer, I would have chose an answer I felt more people would agree with. It's okay, however, I'm getting used to this new way. No big deal.
@spoon It is odd how one could vote unhelpful on this or any opinion related question but it seem to be the norm in opinion q&a that the unhelpful button magically transforms into an "I disagree with you" button. I don't like it any more than you do.
Really? You think that the revolutionary movie 2001:A Space Odyssey is worse than Super Baby Geniuses or Epic Movie?
WOW...This is not an answer I was expecting AT ALL. I'd suggest you maybe wait a while and then revisit the movie with an open mind, and without the expectation of seeing a conventional narrative film. If you sort of just let the film wash over you without focusing so much on plot/character development and setup/payoff structure, as you'd expect from most contemporary films, I think you may find some interesting stuff going on there.

M$Yes, this movie was incredibly awful, I agree. Introduces a few boring, pretty characters and then proceeds to just torture them on screen. No story, no development, no surprises. It's not even scary or intense. Just alternatingly dull and disgusting, pointless and unpleasant. I hated it.

M$There is so much bad to say about this film icluding the fact they use the same shot of the same explosion 3 times in a row and not in some fancy John Woo style slowmo\rewind, the just pretended it was another.
The acting is awful and the set mainly consits of a highschool audatorium and the studio parking lot.
But the most epic of all fails comes with the last time, I cannot put it here as it would spoil the only reason to watch this dire film, it really is worth watching just for that.
The trailer has all the best bits in it apart from the last line.
I bought this on DVD for £1 approx $1.50 and honestly if it was not for the last line I would have felt like I have overpaid.

How is Garden State a disaster? It got good reviews, and i actually liked it. If you want to see a disaster watch award winning actor Jon Voight act in Super Baby Geniuses 2.
Wow, Lon hit it on the head.
If I like a movie, and I can be immersed in it for 2 hours and felt I got my money's worth - it was a good movie.
If the movie was BAD - I use it for fodder to mock. I'd love to see a lot more mainstream movies get the MST3K treatment as well. Even a VH1 "Pop-up Video" treatment can help a sometime atrocious movie.
My main problem now is that because I work in television, I don't watch movies or TV as the director intended - I'm looking for mistakes, plot holes, equipment shots in the picture... :)
