What's the most popular song ever written about New York City?
My guess is New York State of Mind by Billy Joel, but I couldn't be sure.

New York State of Mind by Billy Joel is definitely one of the top songs about New York, but here are a couple others that I think make the list if not jump above the Billy Joel classic:
- Empire State of Mind by Jay Z and Alicia Keys – While it doesn’t have the history of some of the others on the list, I think it is only a matter of time.
- Summer in the City by Lovin’ Spoonful – It may not evoke NYC thoughts right away, but
- Walk on the Wild Side by Lou Reed – Again, maybe not one that immediately comes to mind, but definitely about a few different people experience NYC.
- New York, New York by Frank Sinatra – To me this is number one. Nothing quite like Sinatra. "I want to wake up in a city that doesn't sleep..."
